Myanmar

In 2018, our company successfully implemented a foreign development cooperation project from the "Aid for Trade" program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade entitled "Burma - Assistance in Assessing the Quality of Materials for the Ceramic and Glass Industry".

The Project has set out these specific objectives:
-  Introduction of modern processing methods and transfer of effective assessment methodologies for selected industrial minerals suitable for use in ceramic and glass industry;
-  Evaluation of selected deposits and technological tests of applicability of raw materials for the production of various types of ceramic / glass products;
-  Creating good conditions for the Myanmar Ceramic Society members to upgrade their professional qualification in assessing the potential and evaluating the processing technology of the raw materials for ceramic / glass industry.

Two seminar / workshop were organised:
-  Introduction of modern processing methods and assessment methodologies for raw materials suitable for use in ceramic and glass industry (Yangon, May 2018)
-  Evaluation of selected industrial minerals suitable for glass / ceramic industry and environmental aspects of their production (Yangon Technological University, October 2018)

The Project implementation is assessed to be very good. Achieved results, especially discovery of high-quality feldspars, quartz and kaolin significantly contributed to the extension of existing local raw materials for ceramic / glass industry. The results of chemical analyses and melting tests show the suitability of a wide use in both industries: porcelain, container and flat glass, cheap (Ba-based) crystal, paper production (kaolin as a filler) etc.

During October MCS received all reports, protocols with results of chemical analyses and technological tests of all samples taken during spring field work.

MCS as a partner organization expressed deep concern about follow-up project, focused on assessment and technological evaluation of another local raw material resources (ball clays, glazes) for their optimal use in ceramic / glass industry.
